Complete Baby & Child Immunization Schedule (Indonesia)

The complete primary immunization schedule for Indonesia, following the Kemenkes national program aligned with IDAI recommendations: from the birth-day Hepatitis B (HB-0) dose through the 18-month boosters. All government-program vaccines are free at posyandu and puskesmas.

Complete primary immunization schedule by age
Age Vaccine Protects against Where to get it
At birth Hepatitis B (HB-0) Hepatitis B infection, including mother-to-baby transmission at birth that can lead to long-term liver disease. Posyandu & puskesmas
1 month BCG Severe childhood tuberculosis (TB), such as miliary TB and TB meningitis. Posyandu & puskesmas
Oral Polio 1 (bOPV 1) Poliomyelitis (polio), a virus that can cause permanent paralysis. Posyandu & puskesmas
2 months DPT-HB-Hib 1 Five diseases in one shot: diphtheria, whooping cough (pertussis), tetanus, hepatitis B, and Haemophilus influenzae type b, a leading cause of pneumonia and meningitis in toddlers. Posyandu/puskesmas & IDAI clinics
Oral Polio 2 (bOPV 2) Poliomyelitis (polio). The second dose reinforces the first. Posyandu & puskesmas
3 months DPT-HB-Hib 2 Same as the first dose: diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and Hib. The second dose raises protection before the primary series is completed at 4 months. Posyandu/puskesmas & IDAI clinics
Oral Polio 3 (bOPV 3) Poliomyelitis (polio). The third dose completes the oral polio primary series. Posyandu & puskesmas
4 months DPT-HB-Hib 3 The third and final DPT-HB-Hib primary dose. After it, protection against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and Hib is at full strength, maintained later by the 18-month booster. Posyandu/puskesmas & IDAI clinics
Oral Polio 4 (bOPV 4) Poliomyelitis (polio). The fourth dose strengthens gut immunity against wild poliovirus. Posyandu & puskesmas
Injectable Polio (IPV) All poliovirus types. IPV builds blood-level immunity on top of the oral drops, part of the global polio eradication strategy. Posyandu & puskesmas
9 months MR 1 (Measles-Rubella) Measles and rubella. Measles is highly contagious and can cause pneumonia and encephalitis; rubella is dangerous to pregnant women. Posyandu & puskesmas
18 months DPT-HB-Hib Booster Keeps immunity to diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, and Hib high. Antibodies from the 2–4 month primary series fade over time. Posyandu/puskesmas & IDAI clinics
MR 2 (Measles-Rubella Booster) A second measles–rubella dose pushes protection close to 100%. A small share of children do not fully respond to the first dose. Posyandu/puskesmas & IDAI clinics

Vaccines by age

A detailed page for each age: reasons, side effects, posyandu prep, and FAQs.

  • At birth Hepatitis B (HB-0)
    Vaccines at birth

Before your baby leaves the hospital or birth facility, one vaccine should already be given: Hepatitis B (HB-0). It is the first step of the complete primary immunization series and is given on day one of life.

  • 1 month BCG · Oral Polio 1 (bOPV 1)
    Vaccines at 1 month

At 1 month your baby receives two vaccines at once: BCG against severe TB and Oral Polio 1 (bOPV 1) to open the polio series. Both are free at posyandu and puskesmas.

  • 2 months DPT-HB-Hib 1 · Oral Polio 2 (bOPV 2)
    Vaccines at 2 months

At 2 months your baby starts the most important vaccine series of early childhood: DPT-HB-Hib 1 (one shot against five diseases) and Oral Polio 2. This is the first of three consecutive visits at 2, 3, and 4 months.

  • 3 months DPT-HB-Hib 2 · Oral Polio 3 (bOPV 3)
    Vaccines at 3 months

The 3-month visit repeats last month's combination: DPT-HB-Hib 2 and Oral Polio 3. This second dose is what lifts protection from partial to strong.

  • 4 months DPT-HB-Hib 3 · Oral Polio 4 (bOPV 4) · Injectable Polio (IPV)
    Vaccines at 4 months

The 4-month visit closes the primary series: DPT-HB-Hib 3, Oral Polio 4, and, for the first time, the injectable polio vaccine (IPV). After today your baby's primary protection is complete until MR at 9 months.

  • 9 months MR 1 (Measles-Rubella)
    Vaccines at 9 months

After the gap since 4 months comes the next big visit: MR 1 (measles–rubella) at 9 months. One arm shot that protects against two highly contagious diseases.

  • 18 months DPT-HB-Hib Booster · MR 2 (Measles-Rubella Booster)
    Vaccines at 18 months

At 18 months your baby (now an active toddler) receives two boosters: MR 2 and the DPT-HB-Hib booster. These refresh the primary-series protection before it wanes with age.

Key notes

  • HB-0 is given within the first 24 hours after birth, before discharge from the birth facility.
  • BCG is best given before 3 months of age.
  • DPT-HB-Hib and polio doses need at least 4 weeks (28 days) between them.
  • A delayed schedule is not restarted. Just resume where you left off (catch-up schedule).
  • The 18-month MR 2 and DPT-HB-Hib booster follow IDAI guidance; in the Kemenkes program MR-2 comes via the grade-1 school BIAS program.
